Tier 1 Visa and Study in UK
The tier 1 visa is a point based system (PBS) and is directly replacing eight immigration categories from the previous system and has replaced them with a more streamlined four subdivisions. Tier visa application does not require any sponsors and is solely dependant on the applicant successfully meeting the point’s threshold of 100 points. Tier 1 visa is designed to attract the brightest and best individuals to the UK. You can apply for the visa from outside UK or within the UK. You are required to submit a whole range of documents to support and substantiate your application.
Tier 1 visa has four distinct categories which include the following:
• Tier 1 general highly skilled is for highly skilled individual without a job offer with sufficient points which are based on age, earnings, education and work experience in UK. This visa was closed to all new applicants and is now available to those extending their current HSMP.
• Tier 1 visa entrepreneur is for those setting up or taking over a business in the UK and being actively involved in the running of business.
• Tier 1 post study work visa allow those who have been in the UK on a student visa status the right to stay and work in the UK for a period of 2 years, if they have achieved a certain level of educational qualification. This replaced the previous international graduates’ schemes.
• Tier 1 investor visa is for those investing significant funds in the UK to live and work in the UK.
