Business Travel Tips
If you are someone who has to travel for business, then much of the hassle of going to airports, through security and onto cramped planes can be daunting. However, being smart about travelling will save you wasting time waiting in queues, as well as improving your overall mood on arrival. Often, saving a few minutes will add up, and will leave you feeling more relaxed and prepared on your arrival. Being a smart traveller will also mean that you save money on your travel, and get more value for your spending.
Flying across time zones can play major havoc with your body clock. One of the best ways of minimising the impact of jetlag is to adjust before you leave. Set your clock to your destination time and try and adjust gradually over the course of days. If your flight time makes this impractical, set your watch to your destination time when you get on the plane. If it is night at your destination, try and sleep; but if it’s day, try and stay awake. Although this isn’t always easy, by adjusting to the time zone of your destination, you will feel more refreshed on your arrival. If you need to stay awake on arrival, then going for a run or other form of exercise will help keep you refreshed. This is also a great way to explore your new surroundings.
Try and pick one airline alliance for your travel, or one airline. Checking an airline’s website will show you which alliance the airline is a part of. Always booking with the same airline or alliance will mean that you become liable for discounts far sooner than if you book with a different airline each time. This will also increase your chances of an upgrade or other frequent flyer benefits.
Try and travel with hand luggage only. Although this will force you to be more disciplined with your packing, the time you save by not waiting for your baggage at the carousel will soon add up, particularly if you arrive at an airport where taxis are at a premium. Being disciplined with your packing will also help keep you efficient and ensure you save money on check in fees.
If you are a regular traveller, then you may benefit from annual business travel insurance, which will cover you in case of a range of mishaps. Depending on the level of cover that you take out, you can be covered in a number of different scenarios, all of which will leave you glad you paid for the insurance.
