Today a professional website is necessary to market services and products online, for this to happen there are web design and website development service providers. But a few decades back there was a time when Computers were available to very few and World Wide Web did not exist at that time. All the purchasing, selling and getting service were done in real time and between real people. During that time marketing methods that were used to attract new customers were very different from now. Some of them were putting hoardings at road side, using pamphlets and business cards. At that time big companies used to have great advantage over small organizations and start up businesses because they used to have big budgets to spend on marketing.

Here comes the importance of website design and web development because today customers and clients prefer to look at the company websites before actually doing business with them. When first time a visitor reaches to a website, he/she first notices the website design and then goes through the content of the website. Today with fast internet connections it doesn't take much time to judge a website so a company has just 5-7 seconds to make an impression with the websites unique and beautiful web design. A poor web design may prevent you getting new clients and customers which mean no business and on the contrary side if your website design is a professional one it may create great business opportunities.
Becoming a web designer is not tough and anyone can do it with a bit of computer knowledge and a creative mind. But as far as the professional web designing is concerned, it takes time and a lot of practice to become a web design expert. Technical efficiency and creativity are necessary to make professional and good looking website designs.
Html (Hypertext Markup Language), CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and JavaScript with one photo editing tool like Photoshop are prerequisites for website designing. To make advance websites with complex functionality one need to have knowledge of following languages and software like ASP.NET, SQL Server, Java, PHP, MySql and Flash. To get a professionally looking and user friendly website it is advisable to hire an expert web designer otherwise your business is sure to suffer.
