A Ride in a South Kensington Taxi

By Norris Ross Subscribe to RSS | June 13th 2012 | Views:

South Kensington is an affluent and upmarket district in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, West London. The area itself is situated in the nearby vicinity of South Kensington tube station. You can get connections on the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines of the London Underground which serves most of the London plan. There are exit points which are accessed through a pedestrian tunnel. Through here you can access the three main attractions of the area. The tunnel leads to the Natural History Museum, The Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museums. These are the three most popular and well visited places in South Kensington with those looking for a cultured and interesting day out.

The V&A is perfect for those looking to indulge in the rich and wealthy history of art and design. The museum was founded in 1852 and houses a collection of art from past decades to the current day. It was in 1857 that the museum moved to its current location and was named the South Kensington Museum. It wasn’t until 1899 that the building was renamed the Victoria and Albert Museum. This was in honour of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert who had provided a lot of support to the foundation. Why not take a SW7 taxi to South Kensington, along Cromwell Road and arrive at this grand and opulent building without any hassle?

If a cultured visit is what you are after, then you can’t go wrong with a trip to the V&A. However, if browsing the likes of ceramics, jewellery and textiles is not your thing then there is plenty more to explore in the area. As previously mentioned, just a stones throw away from the tunnel passage and exit from the tube station is the Natural History Museum. Here you can explore varying collections and exhibitions on the wonders of the natural world. As well as top tourist attractions, there are outstanding leisure and recreational opportunities that should not be missed. The area may be famed for its museums, art galleries and beautiful gardens, but there is a lot more to be enjoyed. A ride in a South Kensington taxi will show you the many restaurants, bars, cafes, fashion stores and boutiques the area has to offer. This luxurious area attracts the more discerning shopper. This is not only because it’s residents are fairly wealthy, but those who descend on the district are affluent too. If you want to shop in style, you may consider hiring a South Kensington cab for the duration of your shopping trip. That or someone else to be laden down with all your shopping bags. When you’re on a shopping spree in this district, it is hard not to purchase a souvenir from every bespoke boutique you pop into.
