Career Planning for High School Students
Students these days are being given sound advice on career planning and development in their high school classes itself. Such a step is taken so as to ensure that the students get geared up well when they enter college. A student who applies for college will be ready to pass the pass the pre-assessment testing. However, it must be noted that these classes aren’t necessarily the only thing to be considered for career planning.
Life skills such as good attendance, positive attitudes and good work ethics can be obtained during high school. It is common knowledge that most employers will opt to hire energetic, dedicated and loyal employees when the need arises. By honing these skills during the high school years, you will be surely picked as asset to any company.
Sharp attendance:
Employers will not be very keen on hiring a person who regularly abstains from work. The simple logic behind this is that the employer is going to invest a lot of money on a person from whom they will want to deliver the best. In order to complete the allotted tasks, they will be on the lookout for someone who will deliver the work on time. There are instances where employers will look into your high school or college attendance record for an assessment.
Positive attitude:
You need to ask yourself – do you have a positive or negative attitude. Although this might seem a less important factor while planning your career, your prospective employer’s views may tend to differ. In the quest for your dream job, the attitude of a person about themselves, others and life in general will play a huge role. A person who displays a positive attitude at all times will be most sought-after by employers. Such individuals are always the most looked upon in the job market as they exhibit exuberance to achieve greater success in their job.
Work ethics:
Another trait equivalent to attendance and attitude employers will look up for in an individual is good work ethics. The loyalty you show towards your employer, dedication and energy to the job form the work ethics. Generally, these come to us naturally when we get groomed from childhood. You will have succeeded in building good work ethics when you finish off tasks on time or volunteer your name for extra work and apply yourself to your studies and activities.
Once an employer sees all such traits, he/she shall lap up the opportunity and take in the individual as an ideal placement.
