This type of stretching exercise involves lying with the face down and pushing oneself up. The pelvic area of the body should be firmly rooted to the ground while practicing this type of stretching activity.

One of the other effective Sciatica stretches that is practiced by a large number of patients is Piriformis stretch. Piriformis stretches help the body to relax and keep strain off the body as well. Piriformis stretches are effective for the sciatic nerve. One of the other positive aspects that are associated with the Piriformis exercise is the fact that practicing this type of stretching activity helps to minimize inflammation as well as pain to a great extent. There are several stretches for sciatica that can be practiced by patients.

The lower back is the mainly affected portion of the body. Hence, it is mandatory to exercise the lower back portion well. The two main types of back stretching exercises that help to stretch the lower back effectively include the cat stretch and back extension exercise. Though there are a number of other exercises that can always be practiced yet the above-mentioned two stretching exercises prove to be the most effective. There can be least doubt about the fact that preventive care is perhaps the best possible available approach for getting relief from sciatica pain and discomfort. It is advised to consult a doctor if in the case the sciatica pain persists even after performing the stretching activities.
