Manic disorder or episodes of depression of bipolar disorder

Every one go through ups and downs but people suffering from bipolar disorder go through from peaks and valleys. Bipolar disorder is a mental illness in which a person faces severe mood swings, depression and at least one episode of mania, it is also termed as manic depression. Bipolar disorder is a treatable, but if it is not treated on time it can harm your job, school, health, affects your relationships etc. many people do not recognize the symptoms which eventually worsen up the condition.

Bipolar disorder is the fifth leading reason that causes disability. It is more common in men as compared to women, many people suffering from this mental illness end up committing suicide due to drastic change in mood, energy, thinking and behavior and this cycle last for days, week and months. The changes in mood are so severe that it even interferes with your ability to function. The causes of bipolar disorder are not yet known, but it often runs in family. The first manic or depression attack of bipolar disorder occur in teenage or in childhood. The symptoms of the bipolar attack are generally complicated therefore, many people overlook the symptoms or misdiagnosed. But proper and complete treatment can help in minimizing the problem and help you live a healthy life.

The manic disorder lasts for several days and may extend up to months or years. Some of the common symptoms of manic disorder include lack of concentration, poor judgment, little need for sleep, lack of self control, reckless attitude, frequent change in mood, talking a lot and very high self belief and sometimes very irritated and agitated. There is high risk of suicide in bipolar disorder. Due to depression patient may take alcohol which made the situation worse. Symptoms of episodes of depression are little different to that of manic disorder, it include daily low mood, eating problem, problem in concentrating on one thing, fatigue, lazy, lack of interest in work, the person with the episodes of depression either sleep too much or find difficulty in sleeping.

Family support along with the doctor’s treatment will help the patient to cope up and come out of the problem. Family treatment combined with the support and study about the disorder will enable to overcome the odds of symptoms returning. Diagnose of the bipolar disorder is dependent upon the cause of the disorder and the condition of the patient. Your health care provider may conduct several test and studies on you so as to provide you with the best treatment. You health care provider might ask you about you family medical history in order to know if anyone has or had bipolar disorder or not. S/he will also conduct a thorough examination to know about illness or the cause of illness. Make sure you take your medical history along with you or tell your doctor if you are taking any medicines and also keep a check on your mood swing as well for how for long it lasts, as your doctor might ask you all this for further treatment
