Contribution of Asthma Society of Ireland towards Reducing Asthma

Ireland is known to have the highest number of asthma cases but the drop in asthma deaths last year has been encouraging prompting health authorities to realize that the campaign towards reduction in asthma has really been a positive effort. Still a lot need to be done and health authorities believe that proper treatment and medicines could further reduce the figures of asthma deaths across the country this year too.

The reports of 2010 were particularly encouraging as the number of deaths due to asthma was reduced to 34, a forty percent reduction from the previous year. The Asthma Society of Ireland hopes to continue the trend in 2011 as an extension of their five year strategy.

Asthma Society is still vigilant on the deaths being reported and the rising number of asthma cases in Ireland. The average deaths due to asthma in Ireland stand at 60 per year and it’s really a concern.
