Scottish Claymore Swords- weapons of true legendry warrior
In earlier times, when the warriors have to prepare for the war, there could be only three weapons that were most preferred by them. The primary weapon was the ancient claymore, the Scottish dirk and the Sgian dubh. Among these the claymore was the most favored one.
Scottish Claymore Sword has blades that are large and double –edged. These are customized swords that are available in different styles. This type of blade configuration is perfect for different types of cuts and allowing excellent dense during the attack from the opponent. These are well shaped and strong enough to bear even the forceful attack from the other side.
The claymore swords are one of the most widespread armaments of the Scottish time. It was an ideal preference for fighting battles and conquering the enemies. The sharp edges can do the damage at a very rapid speed.
There are various types of Scottish swords that were in use by the warriors. Some of them are mentioned below:-
• Scottish claymore Antiquated
It typically has a hand -and -a-half size. This is a versatile weapon that can deliver the great sweeping slashes and powerful thrusts. The design of the sword is very unique and classic with a distinctive sloping quillons terminating in quatrefoils and a high collard quillon block with langets and a sharp edged blade. The tip of the blade is covered by leather and is topped by a global pommel. The length of the weapon is 59 3/4“.
• Two- handed swords
Under the category of two-handed Scottish claymore sword, there are various kinds of weapons that are included. Below mentioned are few of them:-
o Scottish claymore
It has a twisted wood handle with a brass hand guard and pommel. Blades cannot be sharpened and hence not fully suitable for the battle field. The length of the weapon is 57” and the weight is 6.2 lbs.
o Lowlander two handed great sword
The blades are available in both polished and antiquated finishes. The grips are leather covered with an overlaid binding of leather. The length is 68 1/2”.
o Heron mark sword
This two handed weapon has a length of 42”. The blades are 32” long, 1-1/4” wide and 3/16 thick. The approximate weight of the weapon is 2 lbs/12 oz.
o Sword of Roven
The average length of the weapon is 48”. The length of the blades is 38”. It is 1-7/8” wide and 3/16” thick in size. The weight is 3 lbs.
o Great Ouse river sword
This is also one of the most preferred weapons among Scottish warriors. The overall length of the weapon is 46-1/4”. The blades’ length is 36”. The width and the thickness are 1-7/8” and 3/16. The weight is 2 lbs/12 oz.
o Hero’s war sword
This Scottish claymore sword has an approximate length of 64”. The blades are extended to the length f 48” which is 2” wide and 3/16’ in thickness. The weapons weigh 6 lbs/8 oz.
In this list there are some other names as well like the swords of Pavia and brave-heart- the word of William Wallace etc. which were very popular during the battleships.
