The National Museum in Yangon is 5 storeys high and houses many artefacts from Myanmar’s past. The throne used by the last Myanmar King can be found here as can many other interesting items. The museum is located in downtown Yangon and is very easy to get to.

The Scwedagon Pagoda is a landmark that can be seen from almost every part of the city. Believed to be one of the most magnificent of all the world’s monuments, it has a stupa covered with solid gold plates and precious stones such as diamonds, sapphires and rubies.

Just a short walk from the Scwedagon Pagoda you will find the Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda. The reclining Buddha that has its home here is 72 metres long and is probably the largest reclining Buddha in Myanmar. It has glass mosaics on its feet and this vast statue is truly is a sight to see.

Hlawga Wildlife Park is a fabulous day out for the whole family. A popular place to picnic, the wildlife park is home to over 70 kinds of animal and 90 species of birds.

If you are looking for cheap Yangon hotels then often those further away from the sights are more affordable. Trying to choose a hotel that is central enough to see all the sights without too much travel can often be difficult.

Cheap Yangon hotels can become booked up very quickly particularly during festivals and other holiday periods. It is strongly advised to book well in advance of your trip to avoid disappointment.
