Australian student visa is granted to students who wish to undertake a registered course on a full-time basis offered by an Australian education provider who is registered with the Australian government to offer course to overseas student. Your student visa specifies an expected duration in which you will study in Australia and you must finish your studies within this duration. You can apply to extend your student visa if you have not completed your studies within the expected duration. Australian student visa allows you to work up to 20 hours a week during term time and unlimited during holidays, but you cannot begin working until your course has started.
Generally your visa will also cover you for multiple entries into Australia during study course. Your spouse and dependant children may accompany you into Australia by applying for the same visa. To apply for a student visa you must have been accepted in a full time course, you will need separate healthcare cover, but you do not get access to Australia subsidized student health cover. You will need to have a good character and good English language skills.
