Chiang Rai Things to Do

Tourists visit the Chiang Rai region to enjoy the natural wonders and beauty of this relatively undeveloped part of Thailand. Keeping true to its original form, Chiang Rai offers visitors many things to do outside of the usual tourist attractions.

Here, travellers can enjoy relaxing boat rides, river rafting and trekking. It is also an ideal family spot for daylong bike tours, tours of hill tribe villages and even elephant rides. The region is home to an animal park and a zoo that provide children with a variety of kid-friendly activities.

The staff at the hotels in Chiang Rai can offer ideas for some local activities to do; one of those suggestions will no doubt be a round of golf. This area of Chiang Rai provides golfers many opportunities to take in a round or two of golf on one of its many golf courses.

Close to the Chiang Rai town is Chiang Mai. In Chiang Mai, visitors will find the Kiend Doi Fishing Park. A visit to this family-run business is another great way to explore the natural beauty of this region and get in a day of family activities.

Visitors to Chiang Rai may also be encouraged to visit the local winery. This is not a typical activity one would associate with a trip to Thailand, but the Chiang Rai Winery remains the first of its kind in the region. There are several wineries in Thailand; however, this particular one is the largest herbal and fruit wine producer in both volume and sales.
