Malaga is one of Spain’s popular tourist resorts as it is situated at Costa del Sol which offers plenty of fun in the sun with its pleasant Mediterranean climate.

Malaga is a favorite summer holiday choice by many British and European tourists who run away from the icy winter back home.

Early Status

Malaga was originally a port which allows access to sunny sandy Costa del Sol. Crowds of people come to Malaga in the summer as it offers beautiful sand and warm waters. There are many well built holiday resorts that are found in Puerto Banus, Fuengirola and Torremilinos.

Malaga also offers many historical discoveries that reflect its rich culture, traditions and customs.

The early civilizations’ settlement at Malaga and its surroundings have profound impact on Malaga’s lifestyle and development until today.

Sights of attraction

One of the highlights offered by Malaga is that it is Picasso’s hometown; hence, it is not surprising that many masterpieces of this renowned artist can be found in Malaga. There are also many well set up cultural spots for the tourists to enjoy at leisure.

Malaga offers a lot of panoramic Andalucia landscape with the Moorish influence strongly felt in the city and its surroundings. One can travel to Costa del Sol to admire the astounding cliffs that run parallel to the coast. Further on, one would sight the majestic Sierra Almijara looming forth to meet the Mediterranean Sea.

These natural landscapes are free to behold for a most memorable experience. Many tourists are quite content to remain in Malaga throughout their vacation holiday to laze in the sun on the beautiful beaches of Costa del Sol. The beach has many activities available; beach volleyball, seashell collecting, sun tanning, sand castle building and sunset strolls are enjoyed by the individuals and families with children.

Surroundings

The more adventurous Malaga tourist can consider surrounding cities and towns which have plenty of sights to indulge in. Granada is a nearby magnificent city that can be visited in a day excursion as it is easily accessible by road. There is the impressive Alhambra in Granada and old quarters with narrow cobbled streets of Moorish influence.

Seville as Andalucia’s capital is cosmopolitan in nature as Spain’s fourth largest city. It offers a lot of Moorish architectural structures in terms of huge ancient cathedrals, fortresses and castles such as the famous Mudejar Alcazar Palace. All who visit Malaga would drop by these surrounding cities to enjoy their value-for-money day trips.
