India is a beautiful country and is a home to people from varied faiths and beliefs. It also offers pilgrimages for different castes and creeds. According to Hindu mythology, a visit to Char Dham symbolizes salvation or moksha. The expanded meaning of the words Char means four and Dham means place of pilgrimage. It is believed that to attain absolution and peace of mind, one must visit these four pilgrimage destinations. There are several tour operators who offer different varieties of Chardham Yatra.

The four places that are included in the Chardham Yatra are Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Gangotri is the mythological source of the River Ganges. Yamunotri is the source of River Yamuna and Kedarnath is the abode of Lord Shiva while Badrinath is the abode of Lord Vishna. The Chardham are nestled high up in the Himalayas in the state of Uttaranchal. It is the belief of the Hindus that these four places open the doors to spirituality and provide a rejuvenating experience to the devotees. All kinds of people including saints, pilgrims and common people have been visiting these places since several centuries. They do so to wash off their sins and to ask for forgiveness.

There are innumerable travel packages to select from for those who wish to go for the Chardham Yatra. You can visit the internet or contact the local travel agent for the same. When you visit this place, you would not only experience the religious attractions but also get to be one with the true reflection of the rich Indian culture and tradition. The charm to these Dhams is also added due to the two rivers Ganga and Mandakini who flow through this place.

The Kedarntah Dham is home to the famous Kedarnath Temple along with several other attractions that include Gandhi Sarovar, Ukhimath, Gaurikund and more. The places of interest near the Badrinath Dham include Badri, Badri Vishal, Vridha Badri, Tapt Kund and Narad Kun among various other attractions. All of these Chardhams are easily accessible by air, road and rail.

Joshimath is one of the famous pilgrimage destinations for the Hindus. It is situated in the state of Uttarakhand. Adi Guru Shankaracharya established Joshimath. The two main temples present in this place are Nav Durga and Narsingh. Joshimath also serves as the base camp for trekking to the Valley of flowers.
