There are a lot of monuments in Marbella which one needs to visit when they go to the place for a vacation. In this article we will read more about the monuments that one can see in Marbella.

Castle

Very close to the Orange Square is this palace, Marbella Castle. One can witness the ruins of the palace. It belongs to the Muslim era. This is the only palace of the Muslim culture which is preserved here. Marbella was a very important and popular city during the Muslim rule. The Muslims occupied major portion of this area.

Roman Village

This was a village that was explored only during 1960 by famous archeologists. However this village dates back to the eighteenth century. This place has a large yard, which is completely bordered by pillars. In the exterior, there are almost twelve rooms. They are designed in such a way that they give good lighting to the rooms that are inside the building.

Old Town

Casco antiguo is a place which is worth a visit. One should not miss this place when they go for a vacation to Marbella. This place, the old town of Marbella is very well preserved. One can see no difference in the ruins after the eighteenth century. This area is very popular because of the very good maintenance. This place is visited by a lot of tourists and it has become a famous commercial center. The streets of this old town are always busy and lively.

Church

This is also a very famous monument that is located in the Orange Square. It is in the middle of the Marbella town. The church is located in the most stunning square of the town. This church, Ermita de Santiago, first built in 15th century around 1505, was completed only in 1712.

Spanish museum

This museum is a second home for all artists and their works. The main focus of this museum is on the Spanish art that is contemporary. This museum holds a lot of exhibitions. These exhibitions normally display works of famous artists like John Miro, Chillida and Picasso.

The Basilica

The construction of the Basilica is gothic and it dates back to the sixth century. This place is surrounded by a lot of churches and cemetery. In olden days this place was very famous. After the excavation, they found lots of material that is now on display in the museum.
