You may not see the typewriters frequently today but they are still used in many countries for documentation purposes and legal purposes and the quality of the typewriters need to be the best in the industry. While talking about typewriters you cannot miss IBM selectric typewriter which was the most successful model launched by the company in 1961. This is an electric ibm typewriter which is known for its performance and look and the company tagging is always there to support.

The major difference of this model with other traditional models is that it does not have the baskets of the type bars which swung up so that it can strike the ribbon and then the page. In this case, there is a type element which uses to rotate and pivot to the correct position each time before striking. This type element can be changed easily and that is why it is possible to print different fonts in the same document. There is a paper roller in the ibm typewriter which stays at its position unlike the carriage in the older version..

Both these model has 88 characters but then with the new one dual mode was available. This means it was possible to print 10 or 12 characters per line and at the same time, it is possible to shift a character half space to the left for correcting error. In 1073, a new model was introduced named correcting selectric II where there were internal correcting feature. The pigment was designed to get easily removed from paper and the requirement of white tape was finished. Then came selectric III in 1980 and many other models until 1984 when it was replaced with wheel writer.
