Know about the working of Electromagnets
Electromagnet is a man made magnet that creates a magnetic zone around it when you pass current through it. It is a coil of wires that is not of any use until and unless you run current through the wires wound on them. But once electricity passes through, it converts the iron core into magnet and creates a magnetic zone around it. This can attract any magnet friendly metal but it reach will highly depend on the power of the coil and its magnetic zone. Once you turn the current off the magnetic field is also turned off.
Electromagnets are more effective in AC power. It is possible to increase and decrease the power of the magnet by increasing and decreasing the power supply. This technology is used in several devices and to regulate the magnetic field there is no other technology that works better than this. The magnitude of the current flowing through the coils is responsible for this change. This technology is used in television set to produce pictures that we see on the TV screen. This same technology is used in many r big and small devices such as MRI machines, loudspeaker and hard disks.
As you may see from the outside it will seem that there is an iron core made of iron. But there are small regions known as magnetic domain in the iron core which is responsible for the power of the electromagnet. When you don’t run the current through it the magnetic domains are pointed to random directions and thus their magnetic fields are cancelled due to each other’s magnetic effect. But once you put the electricity on, they are lined in one direction. It aligns parallel to the magnetic field and thus creates a zone of magnetic power and thus the electromagnet work.
