Get to Know Different Maintenance Services for Outdoor Digital Signs

There are basically 3 different maintenance services for outdoor digital signs, rear service, hinge front service and module front service. Each of them suits particular mounting method and environment.

Rear service: it is probably the most common service method which requires several doors at the back of the sign cabinet. The doors should seal the cabinet well when they are closed and locked to give protection to the inside wires and components against weather. Rear service gives enough space for repairing any part inside the cabinet. It is a very convenient maintenance service and has no limitation for the cabinet size. Nevertheless it requires enough space at the back of the display to open the doors.

Hinge front service (cabinet front service): this is the traditional front service which uses hinges on top of the cabinet to connect the front and back parts of the sign. When the maintenance is needed, you just need to unlock the locks at the button of the cabinet, and carefully lift the front part of the cabinet while the sticks inside the cabinet will be holding that part in position. This type of cabinet is normally used when the display needs to be embedded inside the wall or installed on the wall and pole, or if it’s a double-sided display with 2 sides sharing the same cabinet. However the size of single cabinet is limited in this maintenance service because if the cabinet oversized the front part will be too heavy for the hinges and sticks to bear and also the cabinet will not be solid enough.

Module Front Service: in this maintenance method, every one of the modules is attached to the cabinet with screws and can be taken off from it easily. It is a very flexible maintenance service and quite convenient to maintain single module if there are some lights out in module front service. And there is no limitation on the installing location of the LED display or size of the cabinet. The only disadvantage is that it’s not suitable for display with small pixel pitch where LED bulbs are too dense to put in screws on the mask to fix the module.

In general, the maintenance method needs to be considered before the new outdoor LED digital sign is bought. It should be determined by the installation location and your maintenance convenience.
