Tips to Manually Uninstall a Program
If you have an application or software on your computer that you never use, removing the program saves space on the computer's hard drive with no ill effects on the computer. To remove a program from your computer in the safest and simplest fashion, use "Add/Remove Programs" or "Uninstall a program" feature. If that feature fails to uninstall the program from your computer successfully, it is possible to manually uninstall the program from your computer successfully, it is possible to manually uninstall the programinstead.
Instructions
1 # . Try to uninstall the program with the "Add/Remove Programs" or "Uninstall a program" feature. Left-click on "Start" at the bottom left of your screen and then on "Control Panel." Left-click on "Uninstall a Program" under "Program." Check the list for the application you want to uninstall.
2 #. Lift-click and follow the "Uninstall" instructions fro your operating system. You will know if the uninstall has been unsuccessful if the program name remains in the list of applications.
3 #. Restart your computer. Some programs require a restart for complete removal. Reopen the "Add/Remove Programs" or "Uninstall a Program" feature and verify that the program name still appears.
4 # . Backup everything on your computer's hard drive. When deleting program files manually, be careful not to delete the wrong file. That could result in the deletion of another application or the entire system ceasing to operate properly.
5 #. Navigate to the program group directory for the application. Left-click on "C" drive and then "Program Files." Look for the group listed by either program name or by the name of the company that makes the application. For instance, Adobe Photoshop typically saves to the "Adobe" folder.
6 # . Delete the directory of only the program that you want to uninstall from the system. The "Adobe" folder, for instance, may contain more than one program, such as Photoshop and Acrobat. Delete only the "Adobe Photoshop" folder, by right-clicking on the folder and selecting "Delete." Deleting the entire "Adobe" folder uninstalls all Adobe programs.
7 # . Remove any shortcuts to the uninstalled program that appear on your computer's desktop. Right-click on the program icon and select "Delete."
8 # . Delete the program shortcut in the "Start" menu. Open the "Start" menu and click "All Programs" to display an alphabetical list of program shortcuts in the menu. Scroll to the program name, right-click on the shortcut and choose "Delete" to remove it from the list.
Tips & Warnings
Even after you have installed the program from the system, it may still appear in the program list due to program files remaining in the computer's registry. Removing these files is not essential for the program to be uninstalled .
