Ross-shire and Kintail is the seat of the Mackenzie clan and with roots In Irish noble families and the tartan they used to manufacture and use is famously known as the Mackenzie tartan.

The Mackenzie clan also has its own Mackenzie tartan as with all major Scottish Highland clans has. In fact, raised by the Mackenzie clan, some of the regiments and bands also have their own tartan. Hence with Mackenzie clan, there is more than one tartan which is very closely associated and in the tartan library, each one of the Mackenzie tartan is recorded which are unique and without any doubt classy and beautiful.

Tartan ribbon is also used as part of the formal clan attire, that has the same pattern as the tartan cloth and it adds to the style a big way. As an embellishment on dresses decorations, tartan ribbon is used extensively in varying lengths and width in which they are available. To make the tartan ribbon materials such as wool or polyester are generally used. Now, used in Scottish theme parties or in grand weddings, tartan ribbon has proved to be an important item. The tartan ribbon has found a number of uses and applications and is also exported to many other countries available in all the top clan tartan patterns and they are reported to have a high demand.

Kilt is the traditional tartan dress of the Scottish men of different clans. This popular tartan dress or kilt is not only worn by the members of Scottish clans but also by millions in Ireland, Wales, etc that are of Celtic and Gaelic origin. In a special weave called tartan, the tartan dress is made of woollen fabric resembling checked plaid.

Traditionally, Brides often give their wedding guests a little treat or wedding favour in exchange for a wedding present given to the happy couple as a wedding gift. The wedding gift can be money, a little something for their new house together. Recently a new trend is to contribute to the newly wedded honeymoon. And tartan ribbons are very much used for packing the wedding gifts. The wedding favour idea is a nice gesture but can also dent a hole in your wedding budget.

If you are having a Scottish wedding theme, either held in Scotland or overseas, why not give a little inexpensive DIY wedding favor in the form of seeds. Perhaps wildflowers or bluebells, which when planted in your garden will be a constant reminder of the happy couple's new life together.

You can also give a wedding favour box with a tartan ribbon surrounding the box and tied in the middle. Or you can cover wedding favour boxes with tartan paper and secure with a tied tartan ribbon. Tartan dress is also no doubt the most traditional form of dressing in Scotland whether in weddings or in any other occasions.
