The tweed jacket has been gaining popularity immensely in the present years. Still, even with the surge of celebrity tweed sightings, many individuals are still very confused about how to wear and how to not wear tweed. There are certain tips which reveal that what not to wear with tweed. When many individuals think of tweed today, pictures of old-school teachers wearing jackets with patches on the elbows may pop up in to mind. Some individuals have a perception that this jacket is a type of clothing only country club members are meant to wear. Other individuals may consider this kind of jacket to be nothing more than a glorified blazer which is not actually the real fact. All of these assumptions have proved to be wrong. While it is true that your college professor may indeed be wearing an old-fashioned tweed jacket, the tweed jackets of today are much more stylish and very contemporary. No longer reserved for country club members and the wealthy, the tweed jackets are now trendy and stylish and perfect for any well dressed man. Wearing it correctly, though, is another matter entirely and should be taken care of. Matching a tweed jacket with the right shirt and a perfect trouser is very necessary.

When you wear this type of jacket, please do not consider it to be similar to a suit jacket. Tweed jackets are made from heavier fabric and are found to be sportier in nature. Avoid pairing your jacket with items like Graphic shirts, T-shirts, Tennis Shoes, Shorts etc. While your tweed jacket may not be perfect for every occasion, there is a good chance you will need one for many of the special events in your life. So when you put one on, be sure you know what type of clothing to pair it with. The wrong kind of shirt or shoes can ruin the look of your entire outfit.

When it comes to wearing tweed for less formal, or even casual, events, consider this type of clothing like V-necked Sweaters, Dark, denim jeans, Leather shoes, Chinos, Wool trousers or Button up dress shirts.

Stylists insist that unornamented brown leather belts, sporrans, and shoes should be ideally worn for daywear with tweed jackets. Black leather and silver ornamentation are reserved for evening wear very strictly. A gentleman's Argyll Jacket in tweed or solid colour is suitable for daywear for those occasions that would usually require a sports jacket or lounge suit, while an Argyll Jacket in black or a Prince Charlie Jacket which are suitable for evening wear. With some ensembles, a fly plaid is added in the form of a pleated cloth in the same tartan as the kilt, cast over the shoulder and fastened below the shoulder with a plaid brooch. Kilt accessories go very well with the tweed jackets, so you much certainly try out those when you are sporting a stylish tweed jacket.

In addition, many kilt wearers have opted for a jacketless approach, especially at hot summer Highland Games gatherings. The tweed jackets can be complemented with clothing prepared from family tartan which looks great and give you a royal look altogether.
