The Evolution of Technologies Leading to Smartphones
Back in the 90s every person saw the birth of PDA devices. The all in one nature of having everything one can imagine organized on a digital device was attractive to many. These were more important as a result of the path they set because they did not gain huge popularity at first. There were big advances that brought technology to where it is today, and now we have pocket personal computers that can do anything a PC can do.
The first PDAs were quickly followed by the first iPod. The popularity of MP3s set the stage for the iPod, and the unit introduced the capacity and simplicity that everyone wanted. The advent of the wheel and the high storage capacity launched a market that many other companies competed with but never had good results in. The iPod has developed heavily over the years, and today the classic design is innovative enough to play full length movies.
Smartphones are generally very fragile, and cases have played a tremendous role in protecting the devices so people can continue to use them. Where once the only case was a large leather pouch, today there are many variations of form fitting silicone products and products in mixtures of materials to supply the best protection feasible. A lot of the iPhone 3gs cases and covers and iPod Nano 3rd generation cases introduced new types and materials that are widely used today. Almost every item has a variety of cases to choose from, and there are many companies dedicated to creating every variety that an individual could want.
The nature of the operating system and absence of innovation called for another device, but Windows Mobile was the very best operating system for several years. A company that manufactured Windows Mobile phones created an interface that was meant to contend with the iPhone. Windows Mobile fell by the wayside for some time, and now with the renovated operating system, it is finally catching up to its rivals.
The smartphone marketplace is ruled by both the iPhone and Android phones nowadays. Both of these operating systems have easy to use elements that are fast enough for the most demanding user. Today, over seventy percent of phones activated are smartphone devices, and people of all ages are hopping on the gravy train. Tomorrow, smartphones are going to be mini tablets, and will do everything that a PC can do right now.
