Understanding the Importance of Air Source Heat Pump
In order to maintain the temperature of rooms heat pumps are essential. If you live in a cold climate it is necessary to keep the rooms warm and hence there are pumps which have been designed to serve this purpose. Air source heat pump is usually placed outside the house and looks similar to the air conditioning units. This pump takes the heat from the air and boosts it to a higher temperature using a heat pump. This heat is further used for heating the radiators under floor heating systems or warm air convectors and heat up the water in the room.
This pump needs electricity to operate but the energy consumption is far more less than the heat produced by it. These pumps can easily be installed as they do not require any digging in the garden or backyard. The primary components that make up this pump are heat exchanger, compressors and radiators. Working on the principle of a household refrigerator, these pumps extract heat from the outside air even when it is cold outside. This extracted heat is then absorbed into a fluid which is pumped through the exchanger in the heating pump.
The low grade heat gets passed through the heat pump compressor and is concentrated into a higher temperature of heat which is used to heat the home. This pump provides a steady and reasonable high temperature of heat for your home or building but you might require a standard boiler as a back up when it is excessive cold outside. This pump reduces your carbon footprint and keeps the environment clean and green as the heat it extracts is completely renewable. A good replacement for coal heating system this pump also does not requires maintenance and is even cost effective.
But there are certain points which should be considered prior installing this system. You should choose the Air source heat pump which is meant for colder climates if you are living in colder regions. The noise of the pump should not be loud thereby causing disturbance to your neighbors. Sizing the pump to match the heating requirements of your home is also essential as installing an oversize one would result in excess energy consumption, inferior humidity control and short equipment life.
