If you are about to have your floor redone then you are probably looking around at the various options available to you. Many people would opt for carpeting because it is soft to the touch, but many others prefer to look at other ideas. One very popular alternative to carpeting is real wood flooring, which has a number of benefits of carpets. Some people however might feel that if they do choose wood flooring then they will be limited in terms of what can be done. This is simply not true however as wooden floors come in a variety of different designs that can allow you to be more creative in what you achieve.

Some woods can come in a very pale colour that is almost white, which will help to give a room of lightness and cleanliness. At the other end of the scale, some of the available woods are black which helps to add a touch of sophistication to a room. Somewhere In between, natural solid wood flooring also comes in a more familiar dark brown colour that can help add a feeling of warmth and comfort to a room. If you wish to be particularly creative, you could try using different colours of wood to create patterns and effects as you see fit.

Any Room in the Home

Real wood flooring is hygienic enough, strong enough and good looking enough to be used in any room in the home. The natural feel could be great in a bedroom thanks to the soothing effect which can help send people to sleep whereas the easy to clean nature of wood flooring would make it suitable in the kitchen where it is important that everything is always very clean. Because the wood is treated, wood flooring can even be used in rooms where temperatures and humidity fluctuate wildly such as in the bathroom. Natural solid wood flooring offers not only fantastic aesthetic properties, but also practical properties that you could find very useful in your home.

Throughout The Seasons

Another fantastic property of a wooden floor is that it is both cooling during the summer, and warming during the winter. Being able to help you achieve a comfortable temperature during both the hottest weather and the coldest weather is something that other flooring types cannot achieve. If you wish to do so then a rug would also look great over real wood flooring, which will give you some variation and some softer flooring also if you want it.

If you are considering using wood for your flooring at home then you should ask an expert on their advice because they will be able to make some suggestions that you may not have thought of.
