Vitiligo- It is Curable
Vitiligo is a skin disease in which the normal colour of skin is lost forever. It is also known as Leocuderma. It can cover any part of the skin, occurring mainly around the eyes, mouth and the nostrils. It can have its indirect influence in various other parts of the body like hands, feet, scalp, hair etc. In most cases, the disease is found to afflict people below the age of forty. .
The main reason behind this disease is the improper functioning of the immune system of our body. They get hyper-activated and start destroying the melanocytes instead of the foreign cells. The melanocytes cells are responsible to impart colour to our skin. There is a myth that consumption of milk and fish is the main reason behind this disease. But this is a wrong notion. To cure this disease, medical science has found a permanent cure for vitiligo.
There are various types of cures for vitiligo ranging of doctor's remedy to Ayurveda and home remedies. This disease is very frustrating for the sufferer. Seclusion from social life and mental depression is quite common in this case. Steroids are the most common mode of treatment. If they are injected in the initial stages of the disease, it helps a lot but has minimum effect in later stages..
Psoralen Photo chemotherapy or PUVA (psoralen + UVA) is another weapon in the combat of vitiligo. This therapy has an integral part to play in cures for vitiligo. Psoralens are quite effective in causing skin pigmentation. After its application, we should be exposed to UV rays of the sun that activates the whole process. It yields better results than steroid remedy.
There are Ayurveda and home remedies but they are not so fruitful like the former.
