The eyes take a lot of stress while performing the function of vision. Our lifestyle and work scenario has resulted in pushing our senses to get bogged down and diminish in function earlier than ever before.

With increasing eye related problems there has been an increase in awareness among people to give the due importance to their eyes. Thus there has been tremendous increase in the field of ophthalmology in countries like ours. Though an age-related problem, cataract is one of the main reasons for eye surgeries. The problem gets aggravated and grows to become a major issue with smokers, people with diabetes, exposure to toxins, continued exposure to direct Sunlight, certain treatments during pregnancy etc.

Besides, the newer technologies in rectifying the eye problems are a big boon in making life easier for people suffering from eye sight problems.

The latest entrant among the procedures related to correcting eye problems are lens replacement procedures. Though the procedure has shown immediate relief and good improvement in most of the patients, there is a minor apprehension among patients being recommended with this procedure for its comparatively new arrival. In countries like the US, this is one of the most opted procedures to correct vision problems like cataract.

Usually, LASIK surgery serves good for most of the patients, but there are some among whom the cornea is very thin and require a lens implant. Besides, the lens implant surgery is also good or rather best recommended to people with severe nearsightedness. Here something like a contact lens is inserted near the iris of the eye that almost works like a lens to provide corrected vision to the person.

Under Phaco Eye Surgery, a phakic intraocular lens or implantable collamer lens is placed inside the eyes. The procedure uses an ultrasonic device to break down the cataract or the cloudy lens through a procedure called phacoemulsification. The procedure, developed as an alternative to the old procedure requiring long incision in the eye and longer hospital stay and post care and recovery time, has been able to reduce the pain involved by limiting the incision for the surgery to a very small length.

This procedure also involves smaller cut in the eye thus making the recovery time much smaller than what was in the case of older procedures. This procedure requires monitoring of heart rate and blood pressure despite the fact that the anaesthesia used is a localised one. Improvement in technology ever since it was devised, this kind of surgery has become more and more popular and has gone a step further with the innovation of foldable IOL; the lens that can be inserted inside the eyes through a very small incisi on.

Nearer home, you can go in for Eye Surgeon in Delhi for the city boasts of some of the best ophthalmologists in India and has become a medical tourism hub for patients from many Asian nations and also world over for comparatively less cost that one has to bear in the entire procedure.
