Information Regarding Cpap Machines

By Andy Rojer Subscribe to RSS | June 9th 2012 | Views:

A Cpap uses a continuous positives pressure in order to maintain the continuous levels of positive airways pressure. It is a function very similar to the PEEP apart from the fact that PEEP is basically applied pressures against an exhalation. While cpap machines are the pressure machine which is applied by the constant flow. During its cycle the ventilator does not operates and no any additional pressure have been provided above this level and along with patients are initiated in all of the breaths. Nasal cpap have been frequently used among neonates but its use is a controversial. Nasal cpap reduces the ventilator time but also increases an occurrence of the pneumothorax.

Features of cpap machines:

As the treatment or a therapy, cpap machines have been used to treat the undeveloped lungs of the preterm infants. For an instance, some physicians use this cpap for treating infants who are suffering from bronchopulmonary dysplasia or respiratory distresses syndrome. In some of the cases of preterm infants having undeveloped lungs, this cpap is helpful in improving the survival and decreasing the needs for steroid treatments to their lungs. A cpap utilizes machines at home only which is specially designed for delivering the constant flow or the pressure. Some of these machines offer few more different features like heated humidifiers. This machine is proved to be one of the most efficient treatments for the obstructive sleep arenas into which mild pressures from a cpap prevent the airways from becoming blocked or collapsed.

Measurements and Settings:

A cpap is the machine which applies the pressure without the pause or an end to the airways. Generally it utilizes the flow for generating the pressure. A PEEP is also known as CPAP though the pressure which has been generated in a PEEP is done by the backpressure valve by forcing the increased pressure over exhalation by ultimately creating the sustained or continuous pressure. FiO2 is the fractional O2 percentages which are being added on to the delivered air. The humidified high flows of the nasal airways respiratory support actually delivers the high minute volume of the respiratory gases via the nasal cannula. The respiratory gases have been heated to body temperature and humidity to saturate vapor pressure. This type of the respiratory support has been generally referred as the high flow therapy or transnasal insufflation which is especially used for the treatment of the sleep apnea. Nasal cannula which is generally used for the oxygen delivery delivers about 1 to 6 liters of the oxygen gas per minute. The fractional O2 percentages inhaled by a patient generally ranges from about 24 percent to 35 percent as 100 percent oxygen is delivered from cannula and is diluted in air at 21 percent supply of oxygen. The flow rates for the delivery of oxygen using typical nasal cannulas are limited as oxygen is an anhydrous gas. This cpap machine has been developed for the use in the race horses. These Cpap Supplies avoid a risk of the ventilator associated pneumonia where it can also supplant the usage of the ventilator.
