The quality of living will also improve and the time taken for lowering high blood pressure ranges between six to eight months. The lifestyle changes that are required to lower high blood pressure are loss of weight, exercise, reducing the intake of salt and spicy food, low fat diet and diet rich in fruit and vegetables, quit smoking and alcohol intake, avoid stress and anxiety. These steps will help to reduce the chances of diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, and kidney failure.
Medications: There are lots of medicines available for the treatment of high blood pressure. People react to different medicines differently. You can choose that medicine that suits you. The hypertension medicine should be taken daily and on the time prescribed by the cardiologist even if you are feeling well. This is because the medicine of hypertension once started should keep on as you may be feeling well but inside may be you would be having some problems.
DASH Diet: The DASH diet which stands for Dietary Approaches to stop hypertension should be adopted. This diet includes whole grains, poultry, fish, and red meats as this diet reduces the high blood pressure.
The eating plan of a hypertension person should have lot of fruits, vegetables, low dairy foods, and low saturated fat. The diet includes whole grains, poultry, fish and nuts and it has lesser amount of fats, red meat, sugar etc.
DASH Sodium diet: It says that the intake of sodium should be reduces. Avoid putting salt on salads and fruits in addition. The DASH-Sodium study shows the importance of lowering sodium intake, apart from your diet. But for a best diet for high blood pressure, follow the DASH eating plan and decreased the intake of salt. The amount of sodium in the diet should be around 1500 milligrams a day.
