How to Preserve Homemade Tomato Sauce

Tomato sauce is very rich in vitamins that nourish the body. Homemade tomato sauce has more nutrients and is fresher than those that are produced in factories. However, they do not contain any preservative or chemicals that might reduce the quality and contents. Tomato chutney is very rich and edible. It can be prepared with various spices including chilli, vinegar and seasonings. There are various types of chutney which includes; red chutney, green chutney, onion chutney, hot and sweet chutney.

The preservation of homemade sauce is a major problem that most people are facing due to lack of proper knowledge on how this can be done. Here, I will show you how this can be done easily without any difficulty. First of all, there are different methods of preserving homemade tomato sauce and be able to use it throughout the year. Some of the easiest methods include freezing and canning.

Freezing is the easiest way of preserving homemade tomato sauce. First, prepare your favourite homemade tomato sauce with whatever spices or ingredients you like. Then, look for smaller containers or more depending on the quantity of tomato sauce you have prepared. Each container should be able to accommodate a sauce that will be enough for you to use for a whole day or for a single meal. Always ensure that the sauce is not kept in only one container for freezing. It will be better if you use more containers so that whenever you want to use the sauce, all you need to do is to take one out of the tomato sauce containers that you have frozen and use for your meal.

Remember that all the tomato sauce must be kept in a high freezing condition. You can decide to put them in different freezing containers inside your freezer but this will depend on how many refrigerator you have. However, your frozen sauces that you have prepared at hand will save you a lot of stress during weekends and busy working days. Before you use the frozen sauce, allow it to defrost at room temperature or you can put the tomato chutney or sauce into a pot and allow it to become liquid then heat it to your desired hotness.

The second method of preserving homemade tomato sauce is by canning. Canning is a great way of preserving your tomato ketchup, tomato sauce, tomato chutney, red chutney and green chutney. Meanwhile, canning allows you to store your sauce for a long period of time. Modern canning techniques make it safe and easy for storage. Highly acidic tomatoes can be preserved with water bath canning method. Other sauce that is prepared with spice, oil and other ingredients should be preserved with pressure canned. In conclusion, any product made with meat, fish or meat-based should be preserved with pressure canning.

These are some of the easiest ways of preserving homemade tomato sauce, tomato ketchup for a long time. In addition, this will save you a lot of from stress during your busy working days.
