Most of us enjoy strolls into the woods. There is nothing better than being close to nature and taking a walk in the damp mushy thickets in the dusk. There is that air of thrill and excitement when you wear your shoes, grab your travelling bag and cap and set out with your buddies. The dark green blades of grass swish slash your feet and the bright yellow butter cups brush against your legs. It’s a beautiful weather and you never realize how time has flown away. But in addition to all this beauty, there is something that you might have over looked. You might have taken a couple of pictures as well. It only occurs to you when you sit back on your couch one fine day and rewind those moments. The image of mushrooms will flash as you flip through the pictures and then you will realize how amazing they are. Aren’t you interested in venturing into the world of mushrooms?

They are actually very little known when compared to other organisms. We all know that they exist but we really don’t realize how vast their kingdom is and how significant they really are. There are so many things that we can relate when it comes to mushrooms. We remember mushrooms for their succulent and delicious flavor in cooking. So many exotic dishes can be prepared using these organisms. They add spice to every dish and make it worth tasting. Mushrooms are so known for their beauty that even hairstylists have mushroom cuts in their parlors. They are very special organisms. The interesting thing is that you can neither classify them as plants or animals. They don’t fit into either category.

Mushrooms are devoid of chlorophyll that helps plants to prepare their own food and energy and this is why you can’t term them as plants. So they are placed in the kingdom of fungi. They produce fruiting bodies called as mushrooms. Based on the structure of these fruiting bodies they are classified into other groups as well. Did you know that just like how a coconut tree produces coconut and use the seed for cultivating another sapling, the fungal organism produces a mushroom. So to be honest when you pick a mushroom, it does not die because the actual body of the organism lies under ground. They just look like minute threads and are called hyphae.

The sad thing about mushrooms is that they have an extremely short life to live. They actually cannot survive more than a day. Maybe some can survive for a week or a little more like a month but definitely not more than that. Not all of the mushrooms have a good effect. There is a type of mushroom called as the honey mushroom. It is the primary reason for deadly diseases in trees and affects them. I caught a glimpse of such mushrooms on the net which I got through Verizon FiOS Bundles. Actually there is a type of mushroom that grows underground and you will be able to find it only by digging under the ground. The funny fact is that people train dogs and even pigs to find such type of mushrooms. Now that’s really interesting. Isn’t it?

Some mushrooms look just like how we imagined them to be. But there are certain type of mushrooms that look pretty weird in their shapes. Actually some look like bird nests and some are like horse tails and there are actually some which look like coral reefs. No matter what their shape is, it has to be agreed without doubt that they are the fascinating creation of God.
