Structure of SMSTS & SSSTS Safety Training Courses
With the construction industry in full bloom in the last decade, it is not surprising that a new Construction Regulation mushroomed in April 2007 which emphasized safety in Design and Management. This new regulation in the construction industry serves to enable all construction managers and site supervisors to be fully competent over their workers’ safety and health at the work place.
Managers and site supervisors of all construction must be familiar with the new construction regulation to undertake the required safety measures at the work site with proper safety training courses such as SMSTS and SSSTS.
Course Offerings
SMSTS and SSSTS are popular construction courses that emphasize on safety and health issues. The structured course scheme provides site managers and supervisors the avenue to demonstrate safety skills in the construction industry that would provide a safe workplace for their workers and clients.
Potential risks and dangers at the work place are quickly identified through these safety training courses with the appropriate safety measures put in place to deter their occurrence.
Managers and supervisors who undergo SMSTS and SSSTS safety training would understand the stringent health and safety requirements of the Health & Safety Act at the workplace.
Course Structure
SMSTS safety training requires only five days in training up the participants on safety at the workplace but its certification is valid for 5 years before a refresher course is strongly recommended. The 2-day SSSTS safety training course is meant for supervisors to be acquainted with health and safety issues to carry out their supervisory responsibilities diligently.
The courses are conducted in an interactive mode to cater to discussions and deliberations on various subject areas in construction with an emphasis on risk assessments and preventive developments. There are activities which the course participants would indulge in to develop methods statements, health and safety plans in the construction arena.
The course ends with an objective test with multiple choice answers; passing this test qualifies the course learners to the prestigious certificate in Construction Site Managers in Safety.
Course Certificate
The course certificate would enable its holders to exercise the proper authority on safety and health at the construction site. However, the certificate is valid only for 5 years; after which, a two-day refresher course must be passed to renew the certification for another 5 years. This requirement is to ensure that the construction managers and supervisors are kept abreast with the latest technological development in the construction industry.
