Northeastern part of India is one of the most beautiful parts of the subcontinent. The region is not very commercialized and all the developments that you will find in most of these regions blends in with the landscape, making it very pleasing to the eye. Talking about the North east travel, some of the places which are deemed to be visited are Darjeeling and Gangtok. Darjeeling Tourism will take you through the snow covered mountains, lush green meadows, the Tea gardens and much more. Ideal time to visit is the summer as the winters get too chilly and cold.

Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim and the largest town as well. Gangtok tourism has emerged as an ecotourism hub in the recent years, owing to the expanses of natural landscapes and a very diverse flora and fauna. Some of the nature sports like trekking, mountaineering, river rafting and other nature oriented activities are more common here. These activities give a huge boost to the Gangtok tourism. Being the state capital, Gangtok also has the credit of being the largest in the hospitality industry in the state of Sikkim. Most of the residents of Gangtok contribute directly or indirectly to the Gangkok tourism as they are involved in some or the other form of activity like being employed in hotels, restaurants and tourist driven occupations.

Your northeast travel will disclose to you a variety of facts in Darjeeling tourism or Gangtok tourism about the spread of Buddhism as well as the Tibetan culture. While a lot of Tibetan festivals are celebrated in Darjeeling, Gangtok is a prominent Buddhist pilgrimage center. In fact, history says that the meaning of Gangtok is somewhat derived from the Tibetan language itself. It means Hill top or Hill side. Another feather in the cap of this beautiful hill stations is that Gangtok is one of the cleanest cities of India and is also referred to as the Switzerland of the east. Whether you are a bachelor, a newly married couple going on honeymoon, a group of friends or just a big family, whether you are young or old, you are going to enjoy every bit of this picturesque trip.

Gangtok is located in the backdrop of Kanchenjunga. You get to see the best view of the mountain ranges. Kanchenjunga is the world’s third highest pinnacle and the highest peak of India. It is a desired trekking destination and most of the trekking routes start from Gangtok. Some of the other famous places to see in Gangtok include Tashi viewpoint, Deorali Orchid Sanctuary, Tsongo Lake, Do Drul Chorten, Enchey Monastry, Phensong Monastry, Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok, Rumtek Monastry, Paymangtse Monastry, Rabdentse Ruins, Namgyal Institue, Kabi Lungchok, Institute of Tibetology, Fambong la wildlife sanctuary, Pelling, Yuksom and Nathu La Pass.

Nobody could have actually imagined that there can be so many places in the north eastern region other than Darjeeling tourism, for you to visit. The north east travel is a true eye opener for a nature lover.
