Kuala Lumpur is the sixth most-visited city in the world, with tourism playing a major part in the city’s economy. Kuala Lumpur has also become an international shopping destination, with a variety of shopping centres that carry well-known global brands as well as local goods. Whether visitors want to find top brands or some amazing souvenirs, the shopping centres, night markets and local shops of Kuala Lumpur will not disappoint. Kuala Lumpur is home to some of the biggest shopping centres in Asia. Bukit Bintang is the ultimate shopping destination in the city, where a wide range of outlets will please even the most fanatical shopaholic. The Low Yat Plaza specialises in electronic products, whilst Berjaya Times Square offers hundreds of outlets that offer everything from food to fashion. KLCC shopping centre is a major attraction, not just for the range of shops that it offers, but also its stunning location at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers. China Town has a number of shopping centres as well as a central market, and the visitor will find shops selling Chinese herbs and medicines as well as other goods. The streets are thronged with stalls, and there are many restaurants and shops selling local delicacies.
For local souvenirs, visitors should try the local Pasar Malams or the night markets where the locals shop. These markets sell a range of goods including household items, trinkets and food.
