If kids are playing computer games online this may be okay as long as the school policy allows for it and it is at a time when there is a free period such as recess or lunch. Issues can arise though when children start trying to play computer games one class is in session. It is bound to happen in every classroom is there's always one or two kids that are very computer savvy and will try to find a way to beat the system. This can cause other classmates to lose focus as well as a can disrupt the lesson from the teacher.
Some of the challenges for teachers with kids trying to play video games on the computer is the one, parents may not allow their kids to play video games. Secondly, there is a chance I kids will come up against mature information on certain websites such as banner ads, violence or blood in the video game.
The school policy is to allow kids to play flash games online during the school day, then teachers need to make sure that kids are still staying involved with other classmates to prove their social skills. The other risk is that during recess, kids will want to stay inside in front of the computer screen instead of going outside to exercise.
For school administrators, it is important to try to find a way to use various filters to prevent kids from accessing unblocked games. These filters may be for specific gaming websites that are very popular, or it could be using keyword filters to prevent search terms from appearing in web queries. There are some dangerous websites out there that can contain viruses or malware so it is important for the IT department to make sure those types of sites don't appear.
If web games are not allowed to be played during the school day, make sure that the rules regarding this art easy to understand and are posted so all kids can follow them. For kids that break the rules make sure that punishments are applied to prevent other kids from trying to access potentially damaging websites.
