A laser cartridge disposed in open field will take up to 450 years to decompose. All these issues make recycling of computers and printers so much more important.

The recycling of any product means that the used is put through a process to make it into a new useable product. Computer recycling of all components is possible these days meaning old computers don’t end up harming the environment in landfill. Recycled computers can be re-used and made into childrens playground equipment, garden hoses and kids toys to name a few. Both individuals and companies use computer recyclers to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute towards saving out environment.

The process of computer recycling means a lot of components of the machine are still good in shape to be used in another machine or few new parts if added to the machine will make it usable. This allows us to find another use of the product. As earlier mention computer recycling can also be the process of recycling the material for another use in a different product.

Since recycling has become a promoted activity among the developed countries to safeguard the environment from the hazards of dumping the electronic products, computer recycling is a way or another step towards a greener planet.

The computer recyclers provide a way to the individuals and businesses to ethically and responsibly dispose or dump their obsolete computer and electronic equipments.

There is a large amount of batteries used in computers and other electronic products which makes it important to create awareness among people to dispose the batteries and their machines properly. Disposing batteries and machines into landfill isn’t safe for environment and largely to the society. In many developed countries there are laws against disposal of batteries and computers which may cost the individuals or companies a hefty fine.

Like computers, printers also come under the category of machines. Like a computer, a printer also has a battery. The recycling of printers means it can be used again after following some processes which makes it usable or alternatively recycled into a new product.

Printer Recycling is another great way for both companies and individuals to help the environment. Printer recyclying is a major industry now and there are also some very good reasons to recycle the printer cartridges.

It is evident that nearly 3.4 litres of oil is needed to get one new laser cartridge. In 12 months, if we look at the requirement of cartridges we will find that cartridge recycling could save 4.3 million litres of oil in small countries.
