SMS Marketing – the newest trend in mobile marketing

The 21st century has seen a rise in the dependency of people on SMS. Short Messaging Services, and over the years, they have proved to be really effective. Not only in the personal forum but also in the corporate world have SMSs proved their mettle to be a most effective mode of communication between business houses.

In fact in some cases they are more effective than e-mails because the person the message is meant for may not always be in the habit of checking his/her mail account every moment but if it is an SMS then it is sure to reach the person at any time or at any place. So there lies no doubt about the fact that such an effective mode of communication should be picked up as a means of marketing one’s products and sure enough we find that this recently has been a very common practice among the renowned business houses. This is exactly what SMS marketing is all about.

In the recent years, SMS marketing has become the mode of advertising one’s products in some parts of the world. The IAB have set many guidelines for the use of the mobile channel by the marketers. Such steps have been successful in North America, Western Europe and some other regions of the world but in others, Mobile SPAM messages remain an issue. Mobile Marketing via SMS is now a rage in Europe and Asia as many companies can now reach their customers in an instant. Bulk sms can easily fulfill their wishes and the availability of the sms software has made their job a lot easier.

Marketing executives of most big and successful brands now swear by the SMS marketing strategy. According to them no other modes of communication help them as much as the SMS in reaching out to their customers with their products. In some cases they meet with failure as in India the government has created National Do Not Call Registry by which the users can bar all promotional calls and SMSs from their number, after they have sent a simple message or a call to 1909. However, such an issue is not sufficient to discourage such an innovative marketing strategy. The benefit of text from computer can also be seen here and the reverse is also true. SMSs can be sent to a mail address though that requires altogether a different methodology.

With newer and more effective technology making their presence felt, the time has come for the world to embrace SMS Marketing. Bulk sms and text from computers are now very common and the sms software has also done a very good job in aiding the Marketing companies.

Being relatively cheap this reduces marketing costs and as a result the total price of the product also gets reduced. Overall we can very easily say that the scientists who created and developed sms did a very wise job that day when they created that which is now termed as one of the most useful means of communication.
