Phones are the common means of communication. Telephones and cell phones are found anywhere and everywhere. There are few people who carry a couple or more of cell phones. Businesses prefer using land phones because of the attractive features it carries. Charter Telephone has all the features that benefit a business as well as a home. Cell phones are more in use because of their flexibility. Mobile phones ring at all events. Weddings, funerals, job interviews and even in operation theatres. It is difficult to find a person without a cell phone. Basic manners and etiquettes have to be followed in our personal and public life. Do you know that we have to follow etiquettes while talking on the phone? Let us take a look at the basic manners that we have to follow while speaking on cell phones.

•Lower your voice and speak softly when taking calls in public. When you shout you grab the attention of people around you. People get disturbed and irritated. For example: Teens speak loudly to attract the attention of his/her girl/boy friend. Nobody would be interested in what you are speaking. So speak softly.

•Do not speak anything personal when you are in the public. There are chances for personal information or personal topics to be overheard. Personal information when shared in public can be used by hackers and identity thieves. Try not to invite problems.

•Do not attend calls when you are in a meeting or speaking to another person. When required get the permission and then attend the call. Avoid messaging when you are held up in a conversation with another person. If you do so it is like disgracing them or it shows that you are not interested in the talk.

•Use the silent mode option available in the cell phones. In places like theatres, restaurants, hospitals and offices do not let your mobile ring loud. People come with different mood and when the mobile rings loud it causes a major effect on them.

•Some of the accidents occur when the driver speaks over the phone. Many countries have banned the usage of cell phones while driving. People tend to become emotional and lose their concentration on driving leading to more accidents. More deaths have been reported in the recent years due to cell phone driving.

•Profile pictures would be displayed on the main screen of the recent phones. Profile pictures on face book and other social networking sites should be appropriate and neat. Avoid vulgar pictures which portray your character in a wrong manner.

•Maintain a distance of 10 feet from the nearest person while talking on the phone. Cell phones are surrounded with a lot of vibrations. The 10 feet distance will help you and the person next to you. Lots of researches have been done regarding cell phone vibrations. It is believed that it leads to different health issues.

•Do not use annoying ring tones. Choose ring tones that would please everyone and decrease the volume of the tone. Loud annoying ring tones destroy the ear drums. Maintain brief conversations when in public.

•Try not to talk when in elevators, hospitals, theatres, libraries, museum, doctor’s office, auditorium, buses, and trains.

Cell phones are not to be blamed but the people are. People need to get aware of how to behave when in public. Children in schools have to be taught on the basic manners and the ways to behave well in the society. Cell phones can be placed in silent mode whenever you go out in public. Avoid taking calls and try texting when required.
