This newest system is a simple concept. Instead of using up the horizontal space for useless purposes, why not use up the vertical space available on the walls? This concept has led to the idea of storage shelving, which has led to the designing of shelves that are specially built to bear the weight of workspace load. This load can comprise of anything – from mere paperwork and stationery office items to heavy machinery or spare parts. The shelves are specially constructed so as not to break down under pressure. The shelves are sturdy and strong and facilitate space management. Another aspect of this system is longspan shelving, a relatively new idea that has been put into practice. This system just uses shelves that aren’t two to three feet in length, but can span as long as fifty feet. These are generally for use in warehouses and storehouses, where there is plenty of space to contain these long shelves, both laterally and vertically. In this way, long span shelving can provide storage space for almost an endless amount of stores and stock.

Thus, storage shelving in this manner provides workspace that was earlier taken up and in the process increases workman efficiency.
