By Nathan Brown T Subscribe to RSS | March 2nd 2012 | Views:

People all over the world are resigned to the fact that cable TV is the best home entertainment and also the least expensive. And what is more it gives you varieties that were not possible even a few years before. It is very rare to see a home without a cable TV. In fact companies like ATT U-verse Cable have expanded their coverage so vastly and are able to provide connections to everyone along their network. It is always advantageous to have a straight to home optic fiber cable than a combination of coaxial and optic fiber.

Getting the best out of your cable connection is what you need to do so that you will save a lot of money, or to say it the other get the best for you have paid through your nose. One of the ways in which you can use the cable to your family’s advantage is have multiple televisions installed in your home. And if you can, have a separate computer or your son, spouse and even for the kids. Since cable TVs have many advanced feature they will you do it with minimum efforts. The advantage of having cable TV is you can watch different programs in different rooms. So there is not more wrangling for prime viewing time within the family.

Cables can transmit data at very fast rates unlike dial-up connections. Even the minimum speed that most operators give customers is 3 Mbps. In fact if all that you do is nothing more than surfing, then even if you share it with 5 or 6 people, you will not see the speed going down. That is the advantage of cable connected internet which was not possible in the dial up connections of yesteryears. To use the full potential of cable TV, the internet and home phone you should consider all of them simultaneously. And the cable companies allow it. They call such connections as bundled services. Bundled services help you to utilize the cable connection to your best advantage.

Another way to make full use of the bandwidth provided by your company is to use the Digital Video Recorder to record those that you cannot watch at the time it is played. Some of them will even let you play the DVR when you are away from your home by using the mobile phone. When you return home you can replay it as many times as you want, or even use it on another day. However remember that there is a limit to how much can be stored on the DVR. Usually it is around 250 hours of show time if the transmission is standard. It can be as less as 75 for HD. So decide what is important for you; standard or HD.

If you don’t want to buy some high end packages that will give you hundreds of channels, which don’t make any sense, then the pay per view is something worth giving your attention to. You can even keep them stored on your DVR and play them over and over if like them so much. In fact it will make a lot of sense if your family can sit together and decide what to choose under the pay per view so each of you don’t spend the money again and again on the same program.

Finally the on-demand, a craze these days, can work to your full advantage. It means freedom from renting CD from a lending library. Some of the operators have 10,000 or more movies from amongst which you can select your favorite. You can even keep a recording of the on demand movies and play them again if it is legal to do so.
