He hasn’t been with me for so long when I noticed bed bugs crawling on some places in our home. I went to the computer and searched on the relationship which might be possible for my Choco and the bed bugs. What I found out made me want to give Choco away.

According to this article from the internet, the common bed bug which is scientifically known as Cimex Lactularius feeds on any warm blooded body available. Dogs, cats and birds are the most common hosts they can find. Since these animals are domesticated, this may be the reason why we can find the common bed bugs inside our very homes.

So what I did was I intensified my defenses against these bugs. I made sure that my pet dog Choco was properly cleaned every day. I brought him to the vet and asked for ways to gradually eliminate the bed bugs preying on him. My vet advised me to use a certain shampoo for Choco and as the days passed by I noticed a considerable decline in Choco’s bugs.

As for the presence of the common bed bugs in my home, I subjected the places where Choco usually stayed to a steamer. I removed our beddings, blankets and fabrics and had them laundered. After which I had them undergo a hot dryer.

After the many things I did, I am proud to say that I had the situation under control. It took me a while, though. But the important thing is that I was able to get rid of the bugs. Every now and then, I check Choco for signs of itching or scratching. My vet also monitors him. I check the places Choco stays and the beddings he uses. So far, so good.
