Flex circuits, also known as Flexible Electronics are defined as the method or technology whereby the electronic circuits are assembled together. The industry standard definition of it is “A patterned arrangement of printed wiring utilizing flexible base material with or withouswithout flexible cover layers”

This process is done by mounting the electronic device component over conductive polyester substrate and fusing them together in order that the right shape can be achieved.

flex circuitsFlex circuits form the basic electronic board circuit that form a part of assemblages that are applicable from small devices as camera and cell phones to larger devices such as cars, rockets and satellites. Flexibility being the keyword the circuits gives the advantage of being molded into devices which are restricted by their shape and size. They can be easily overcome any form space constraint to form a circuit board that will power the functions of the mother device. The idea of this device has been there in popular thought for a long time testifying to man’s need to sandwich into tight spaces the basic hardwiring that would advance the performance of the device.

The world today is moving towards creation of the devices in small sizes. Handheld has become the common terminology in a company’s and the individual’s dictionary driving the corporations and the inventors need to make devices that are portable and easy to use. In cases such as these flexible circuits come in great use as they can be fitted to any form of devices both large and small and provide the underlying support so essential in the proper functioning of them. The flexible circuits can be categorized into categories of single- which allows access from one side, and double access or back bared circuits, sculptured flex circuits, double sided flex circuitsflex circuits, multilayer flex, rigid-flex and polymer thick film flex circuits. The flex circuits now form one of the foundational aspects of functions ranging from automotive to telecommunications to satellite productions. – there various forms being adaptable to any use and their basic function of connection ensuring the quality of service rendered.
