Heavy Duty Loading Ramps: AVP Ramps
All terrain vehicles are heavy and thus difficult to transport. There is a completely different set of devices that are used only for their transportation. These are the ATV carriers and ATV ramps. The latter are used to load and unload all terrain vehicles into ATV carriers for the purpose of transporting the vehicles. Due to weight of the all terrain vehicles, these ramps must be made of strong and solid materials. They are made of various types of materials, wood, metal- mostly aluminum, steel, etc.
these ramps are at a particular angle on the edge of the rear end of the truck onto which the ATV is loaded. ATV ramps are designed such that they are foldable and can easily fit underneath the ATV once it is loaded onto the carrier. There are hinged ramps and even those with combination folding for the same. Home made atv loading ramps are made of wood and are heavy. Sometimes, aluminum brackets can be attached to them for making it a better ramp. These are cheap ramps, heavy, difficult to use and also dangerous. They can slip off the carrier and cause the ATV to fall on one side that may result in injury to another human being or damage to the vehicle and other property. Also, these do not last long due to the nature of the material. Steel and aluminum ramps are commercially manufactured. However, aluminum ramps are safer, lighter and more durable than home made wooden ramps or steel ramps. They are light to use and when not in use, they can easily be folded and slid underneath the ATV carrier.
When you buy ATV loading ramps, make sure that you check the product’s length and width. Narrow and short ramps are problematic and should be bought only if required for one specific type of ATV. Aluminum ramps are priced between $70-200.
