Personal licence is referred to as the licence that is issued to an individual that provides the licence holder the authority to supply alcohol. This came into force in 2003. A personal licence is different from the licence that is issued for premises to be authorized to supply alcohol. Personal Licence is flexible and allows the licence holder to move from one place to another. This type of flexibility is not possible if the licence is issued for a premise. When the licence was made available, the licence issuing authority and police have every right to punish offenders.
Though the personal licence has the flexibility, it does not allow the holder to supply alcohol from a premise that is not under premise licence. However, there is no requirement of personal licence to perform other licensable activities. These activities include serving liquor in the nighttime entertainment clubs, running a nightclub etc. The licence holder is solely responsible for the daily activities that are being performed from the premise. There is provision that more than one individual can possess a personal licence from a single premise. However, it is not mandatory. However, all the alcohol supply activities are to be carried under supervision of the main holder of personal licence.
Furthermore, personal licence is generally valid for a good 10 years when you are applying for the first repeatedly it can be renewed for next 10 years. The condition for the renewal is the licence holder should not have any crime – both inland and foreign. It is mandatory to take an accredited qualification test. The motto of this test is to ensure that the licence applicant is well aware of the law and the minimum necessary social responsibilities. The process is simple. You just need to download and fill the application form and submit it with a processing fee.
