It is rightly believed with good position there comes with huge responsibilities. Today, leaders are facing host of challenges that may impede their position. Although, they are considered to be a gateway of performance, yet none understand and share their problems. In order to keep up with the rate race, they are preparing themselves well. Productivity Issues- With the splurge in employees, the major challenge faced by the leaders is to manage the employees well. They have to drive integrity, sincerity and openness among them. They need to constantly motivate their employees to high performance. But at the same time they need to understand employees are not machine, they are human beings. Hence, the work should be assigned according to their capability and competence. By overburdening leaders are fooling themselves. It will prove to be truly devastating. Hence, it’s the role to leader to harness creativity and productivity among employees.
Cultural Sensitivity- Today we are living in an era where mergers and acquisitions are part of our lives. Hence, leaders need to be agile and culturally sensitive. Bullying and insensitive remarks will diminish their performance as a leader. These challenges will deter an average leader, but a great leader will effectively vanquish them.
Retaining of Employees- The next major issue faced by an HR is how to retain the employees. Their role is not limited to retaining the employees, but it is also extended to employee engagement. You can engage your employees through some fun activities and also by providing them negative and positive feedback in equal measure. You should strive to create harmony between the needs of employees and organization.
Stereotype Boss- The core of our problem is our attitude. Leaders don’t mean applying bossism over your employees, rather there is a paradigm shift in thinking. The role of leader has changed to guide, partner and ally. Leaders who recognize this aspect can transform themselves to a great leader.
The crux of matter is leaders need to formulate business plan keeping in mind capabilities of employees. Respond to uncertainties, understand employee’s behavior, focus on human capital and try to leverage it. These are the only way to envisage the leadership challenges. Reintroduce the magnetism of innovative leadership style and be a repository of skills.
