Hyundai Elantra bookings begin, launch expected in August

This D segment sedan from the South Korean auto maker is awaited by the Indian customers, with its entry in the luxury fragment, customers will get more choice to pick from. Hyundai Elantra launch has been freezed for August 16th, 2012. Hyundai Elantra would be the sixth car from the Hyundai’s clan to be bestowed with the fluidic design. Hyundai Elantra is definitely one of the good looking cars from the South Korean car maker and this is going to give a tough competition to its rivals in the D segment. Hyundai currently has Hyundai Sonata in the D segment and this is going to be the second offering by the company in the D segment. The company is expecting to get good response from the buyers as this is going to be the second attempt by the company to make Elantra a successful model in the Indian car market. The luxury sedan is anticipated to be launched in both petrol and diesel versions mated to a manual and automatic transmission.

The petrol variant will be powered with a 1.8 litre motor running on direct injection generating 147 Bhp of high power and coupled with 181 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the diesel mill will be equipped with a 1.6 litre common rail turbocharged diesel mill which is presently powering Hyundai’s flagship sedan Hyundai Verna Fluidic. The engine belts out a peak power of 126 Bhp and a high torque figure of 260 Nm, this engine will be offered in the base version of the Hyundai Elantra model. The base model will be equipped with a six speed manual gearbox and will also boast two airbags and ABS as standard apart from this it will also come with 16 inch alloy wheels.

The base model of the sedan will be tagged competitively and will target volumes. The S version will come with manual transmission in both diesel and petrol version Hyundai Elantra Fluidic. On the other hand the SX version of the luxury sedan will be the high end version which will be equipped with both manual and automatic gearbox in both petrol and diesel version. The high end feature will be packed with six airbags, ABS, ESP, 6 speed automatic gearbox, cruise control, ventilated and six way adjustable front seats, heated electric wing mirrors and a push button start.
