Chevrolet Enjoy MPV caught testing once again
General Motors India showcased the brand new MPV, Chevrolet Enjoy at the 2012 Auto Expo in January. After it was unveiled at Auto Expo 2012 , the MPV has been seen many times being tested rigorously around Indian roads. The MPV was spotted in many cities if Indian including Chennai, Bangalore, Halol, pune, Mumbai, Cochin etc. The MPV was spotted once again being tested on the roads of Pune.
The MPV was seen with scanty cladding on the surface, therefore one could actually see how the MPV would look like. The tailgate was clearly visible which shows that not many changes have been made to the tailgate from what we got to see at the 2012 Auto Expo. The new addition which was seen at the rear was the monogram Enjoy which was absent during the Auto Expo 2012. This seven seater MPV will take a dig at Maruti’s latest entrant in the MPV segment, Maruti Ertiga. Maruti Ertiga which was launched recently in India in the month of April will give a stiff competition to Chevrolet’s Enjoy MPV. Chevrolet Enjoy MPV will be equipped with a 1.4 litre petrol engine that is capable of producing 98 PS of power however the diesel version could get a Fiat sourced 1.3 litre Multijet engine that can engender 90 PS of power. Chevrolet Enjoy price is expected to be placed between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh.
The trend of a compact MPV was started by Maruti when it displayed Maruti RIII concept at the 2010 Auto Expo held in Delhi. Within two years after the concept was displayed, Ertiga has finally been launched in India at an introductory price. The low price of MPV has worked in its favour, the MPV is selling in good numbers every month. The high demand for Ertiga has led to increase in waiting period for Ertiga diesel variant. Following the footsteps of Maruti now other car makers are also bringing compact MPV to India which include, the forthcoming Chevrolet Enjoy MPV along with Nissan Evalia which will be launched in India during the time of August. These low priced MPVs offer a great package to the customers, ample space both inside the cabin and in the boot make tempting for the customers.
An affordable family car is what customers look for and car makers have now understood this fact. Chevrolet has lined up other products to be launched in the domestic market this year which include two new products and one facelift of their premium SUV, Chevrolet Captiva which is expected to be spawned by the month of October. Other than this, Chevrolet Sail hatchback and Chevrolet Sail sedan will also be launched in India soon. These cars were seen undergoing test round on the roads of India many times. We just hope that Chevrolet Enjoy manages to get a grip in the MPV segment, the car maker already has a MPV in India by the name of Chevrolet Tavera. The facelift version of Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 was launched in the month of March this year, and now with the launch of Enjoy another player will be added in the MPV segment. Let us hope that Chevrolet Enjoy does well in India.
