Most people think one thing that could be given for free to others is advised. How many of us are ready to take an advice at the same instance. For every piece of work, goes behind an advice. This does not matter how big or how small we are. We all give advice to somebody at some point of time or we get good advice at some point of time. We also give advice the same way. May be it is easy for us to give advice; however, to listen to someone it is always difficult. Due to this fact it is always necessary to know who to give a good piece of advice. There are many factors involved while giving a piece of advice. An advice should always be given in a constructive manner. Another key point that is required to give an advice is that it should be given with effectiveness and compassion. Here are few steps that can be followed while we give or take an advice.

The first and foremost step while practicing to give advice is to listen. The listening aspect while giving a piece of advice helps you to have a good communication skill. When you practice listening issues might appear complex at the beginning. By listening we can also get a feel of the listener when being advised. Through this method what is the content that is required, so that somebody can listen to your advice. Hence, it can be made interesting. Before giving a piece of your information, it is always required to take permission from the person whom you are going to advice. An unsolicited advice is a major cause of grief among friends and family members. It can happen that you might interfere in somebody’s personal business. That might not seem right or better at some point of time. It can also lead to a disrespectful, as implying that a person is incapable of caring for himself and resolving his own issues.

However, asking some when one if our advice is desired always shows respect for others and prevents resentments. Say for example you are in midst of saying something, while doing so it is always pleasing if you ask the person whether what you said made any sense, whether it was useful and whether to continue with the topic. It is always good to take both the positive and negative feedbacks. The third kind of advice is the offer without insisting. Say we have listened to a piece of advice. However, we are not certain what we have listened to was helpful to us or not. Hence there are quite a few things that we need to be aware of while giving an advice. While giving and advice we need to offer our insights, experiences and ideas. Attitude is another point which people note while listening to our advice. Hence we need to trust the listener’s inner wisdom to discriminate what is right for the person.

Hence it is always important to understand the consequences of giving or taking an advice. It is always better take time before advising. Take your time. When possible, think long and hard about all the possible courses of action and consider the pros and cons (or the benefits and costs) of each. This is especially important for more complex problems. Think about both the short term and long term consequences of your advice. Very important decisions are usually very important because of their long term effects. Think as far down the road as possible. It is always good to brain storm, empathize, be honest, set a good example and finally understand that the person might not take the advice as well.
