Thickness of a character

Font thickness ranges from light to bold. Thickness of the font is also known as weight of the font. For example – All of us are familiar with the font named “bold” which clearly depicts the weight of the content. There are many other types of free fonts available namely, italics, times roman new etc. All the web designers, graphic designers, computer programmers, engineers use many fonts of different weight or thickness to do their work. Stretch of a Character

By stretch of a character we mean the width of the character. Spacing between the characters represents the width of the character. Some of the popular types of stretch are: Extended, Wide, Narrow, Ultra, compressed, extra and ultra.

Angle of a Character

Angle of a character represents the slope of a character. Generally typefaces of European are represented with the help of slope. Many of the characters don’t show any change with the change in the angle, but the appearance of the characters changes with the change in t he slopes. For example, gaining swash will lose the original appearance of the character.

Optical size

These sizes range from 72 to 8 point. These types of fonts are generally used by Adobe users.
