In 1664, the great Maratha king Shivaji Raje Bhonsle built the Sindhudurg fort. Even today, it attracts many visitors from all round the globe for its excellent architectural works. The fort is situated at the Konkan region in the Indian state of Maharashtra. However, the fortress is not the only attraction of Sindhudurg tourism. The trip is also a chance to explore virgin forests, mighty hills and mountains, wildlife, fascinating beaches, and spectacular greenery of India. With so many things to do in Sindhudurg tourism, it’s always good idea to know your options and plan accordingly in advance. Visit Sindhudurg fort– A visit to Sindhudurg fort is a chance to have a glimpse of the ancient India. Made up of huge stones and 2000 khandis, the fort features 42 bastions. Below are the major attractions of the fort.

Temple of Shivaji Maharaj: Rajaram, son of Shivaji, built this one and only temple. The birthday of Shivaji is celebrated in the temple with grandeur.

Three sweet water reservoirs: The myth is that waters of these three reservoirs don’t dry up even when all the wells and containers in surrounding regions dry up.

Visit beaches – There are many pristine beaches to visit in the trip. You have several options such as Tarkarli, Vengurla, Malvan, Bhogave, Shiroda, Redi, and Aarawali. It will be wonderful feeling to stroll through the beaches in the evening. You can also take part in scuba diving. The Tarkarli beach is known as ‘Tahiti of India’. You can get to see Casuarina trees and playful dolphins over there.

Explore regional culture – The Sindhudurg trip is also an opportunity to explore the regional culture of Maharashtra. The Culture Aangan established the Thakar Adivasi Kala Aangan in 2006. Over there, you can have a glimpse of folk art traditions of the state. The puppetry by local artists is a must-watch for you.

Visit Amboli – This hill station with altitude of 690 meters is located in the Sahayadri hills. You should include it in your itinerary as well. The picturesque view of the Nagartas Waterfalls is a must-watch for the nature lovers.

Eat local foods – Having local Malvani foods can be quite delightful experience.There are many hotels and restaurants in Sawantwadi and nearby places. You can finddifferent types of local cuisines over there. For example, Solkadi is an appetizer that is frequently used in Malvani cuisines. Kokum and coconut milk are used to make this pink color appetizer. You can also try Agul which is a red color drink. It is actually Kokam Sharbat.

In Sindhudurg tourism, you can also visit Devgad in the April to May period. The place is famous of producing mangoes. All and all, the Sindhudurg trip has the potential to enthrall any tourist with miscellaneous touring attractions.
