Located along the coast of Arabian Sea, the Konkan coastal region can be the ultimate for tourists who like exploring scenic beauty of seashore. The Konkan region is surrounded by Sahydri Mountain range in the east, the Gangavali River in the south, the Mayura River in the north, and the Arabian Sea in the west. Quite naturally, the Konkan India tour fascinates any visitor with the best of picturesque view of the Mother Nature. Places to Visit in Konkan India

Murud– It’s a village at Raigad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Janjira fort is the main tourist attraction in this village. The Dutch and British invaders could not conquer this fort despite repeated attempts. It is located near the port of Murud; and visitors can avail sailboats available in the port to visit Janjira fort. There are 19 round bastions in the fort and the front gate is famous for its sculpture. The Murud beach and Garambi Falls are other attractions of the place.

Mahad– Located in bank of river Savitri, Mahad is a small town famous for water agitation under leadership of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. The memorandum of water agitation 'Kranti Stambh' is also of the must-watches in this place. You can also visit Shri Varad Vinayak Temple and take a holy dip in the pond of the temple. The myth is that there wonder lamp in the temple is burning since 1892 A.D.

Chiplun– Located in the bank of Vashishthi River, Chiplun is another great place to visit in the Konkan India tour. Apart from several temples, visitors can choose to visit the place for its scenic beauty. It is a popular picnic spot for people living in the surrounding area. The Parshuram Temple is a must-visit in this place. You can also visit Karanjeshwari Temple which is situated near banks of the Vashishthi.

Rantnagiri– The Ratnadurg Fort is one of the major attractions of this place. You can get also have fun in the Ganapatipule Beach.

Sindhudurg– There are several spectacular beaches in the place. However, it is mostly well-know for the Sindhudurg fort which was built by Maratha king Shivaji Raje Bhonsle in 1664. The fort is a must-watch for its architectural excellence.

The Konkan India tour is also an opportunity for you to have a close look at ethnic India. You can enjoy Konkani foods and explore the regional culture. Red chilies, coconut oil, and coriander are mostly used in Konkani cuisine. The also use raw mangoes, tamarind and lime for giving a sour taste in some of the cuisines. You may also like several Konkani drinks like Kokam Sarbat, cool kokam juice, Amba Panha, Tender coconut water, maadi-fresh palm sap and Sol-Kadhi.
